If you thought Malaysians only queued this early for concert tickets or viral food, think again.

A Threads post by content creator Fahmi Fauzi showed a long queue snaking through the Mid Valley shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, outside the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre (MVEC) as early as 8.30am, well before the 61st TCE Baby Expo officially opens its doors at 10am.

“Wow it’s only 8:30 and people already queuing this long for baby expo? Impressive,” he wrote, alongside visuals of eager parents and shoppers waiting patiently to get in.

Judging by the crowd, plenty of families weren’t taking any chances.

Here’s Why Everyone’s Turning Up Early

The TCE Baby Expo has built a reputation as one of Malaysia’s biggest shopping events for parents, and this year’s edition appears to be no different.

Running from 2 to 5 July at MVEC, Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur, the expo brings together more than 800 baby and maternity brands under one roof, offering everything from newborn essentials to products for growing children.

Of course, many shoppers also had their eyes on the limited giveaways and early bird rewards that are only available while stocks last.

Discounts, Freebies And Exclusive Launches

Among the biggest attractions this year are:

  • Up to 99% off selected Starbuy deals, with prices starting from just RM0.50
  • More than 50 new product launches and exclusive expo promotions
  • A RM100 Mom-To-Be Voucher for the first 400 eligible expecting mothers, plus additional vouchers from Hegen and Momcozy
  • A RM100,000 Cashback Giveaway
  • Free breast pump rentals by Astra Baby
  • Family-friendly activities including the Baby Crawling Contest, Diaper Pop, Korora Baby Spa, and more

Visitors can also enjoy additional savings by using Atome’s Buy Now Pay Later service, while those purchasing a Yhello Pass on-site can access the Morning Priority Lane.

It Looks Like Parents Came Prepared

For many parents, especially those expecting a baby or shopping for multiple children, expos like these are a chance to stock up on essentials while stretching the family budget.

And if the queue forming well before opening time is anything to go by, plenty of Malaysian parents had the same game plan: arrive early, beat the crowd, and hopefully walk away with the best bargains before they’re gone.
