Commuters on the Kelana Jaya Line endured another frustrating morning after technical disruptions delayed train services causing long lines at several stations.

Several users took to Threads to vent their frustrations after experiencing delays during the morning rush hour, with some saying the disruptions have become an all-too-familiar routine.

User @farahin_atiqah said the train she boarded began jerking shortly after leaving KLCC LRT Station.

“It stopped for a long time at Masjid Jamek without opening its doors. It kept jerking before suddenly moving on to Pasar Seni.

“The crowd was unbelievable. Rapid KL really needs to do something because this has become a daily routine instead of something they’re trying to minimise,” she wrote.

Another commuter, @mochimatchashiei, described the commute as a series of unfortunate events.

“Today really feels like a bad day for public transport. The escalator at Masjid Jamek wasn’t working. Then the train broke down. When I reached KLCC, another escalator was out of service. Do LRT trains have to break down every month?” the user quipped sarcastically.

User @varma_official_ also shared that trains were taking significantly longer than usual to leave stations.

“Masjid Jamek is packed, the queue snakes through the station, and the trains are stopping for much longer than normal,” the user wrote.

In the comments section, @xraz.ad said overcrowded LRT stations during peak hours have become a common sight in the Klang Valley, suggesting that wider adoption of flexible working arrangements could help ease congestion.

“It’s part and parcel of taking public transport, especially during peak hours. Everyone works in Kuala Lumpur. Maybe it’s time more offices introduced flexible hours or work-from-home arrangements,” the user commented.

The latest disruption comes just a day after a video showing sparks along the Kelana Jaya Line circulated widely on social media. It remains unclear whether the incident is linked to Tuesday’s technical issues.

Meanwhile, former Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy strategic communications director Lim Sian See, better known as Eric See, took Transport Minister Anthony Loke to task following the alleged explosion, urging him to resign.

Lim said that although there has yet to be an official statement or a detailed explanation from the authorities regarding the incident, which was reportedly linked to the Kelana Jaya LRT line near Taman Jaya station yesterday afternoon, the matter should not be allowed to continue without accountability.

He stressed that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred.

“In March 2025, Rapid Rail confirmed that an ‘explosion’ at Abdullah Hukum LRT station was caused by a technical fault involving the train’s power collector assembly.

“So if passengers are once again claiming they heard an explosion, saw electrical sparks and experienced a sudden blackout inside the train, Rapid KL and Prasarana have a responsibility to provide an official explanation as soon as possible.

“What exactly happened? When passengers genuinely fear for their lives, this is no longer a minor disruption. It’s a serious warning,” Lim wrote on his Facebook.

Rapid KL has yet to issue a statement on the incident although it did say that a door system malfunction occurred yesterday which required a conductor to operate the train manually from Abdullah Hukum Station to KL Sentral.

“Train movements at other stations are expected to be slower with longer stops on the platform,” it said on social media.
