The Ordinary’s Hydration Lab at the GoDown Arts Centre is an immersive pop-up combining interactive education, ingredient discovery, and sensory storytelling.
With so much skincare advice online, the Hydration Lab aims to simplify lab-tested skincare education in a way that feels approachable and relevant to everyday life. Much like drinking water itself, hydration in skincare is often overlooked because of its simplicity and familiarity.
The popup encourages guests to reconsider the value of foundational skincare steps in line with the brand’s Prep, Treat, and Seal philosophy.
What to expect when you arrive?
At first, the Hydration Lab appears dry, warm, and desert-like. Once you enter, the space opens up to a cooling oasis and laboratory-inspired environment, symbolising the transformation from dehydrated to hydrated skin.
The lab is a series of educational installations, ingredient-focused touchpoints, and interactive moments designed to unpack the fundamentals of skin hydration and barrier support.

As guests make their way around, they’ll be given a lanyard to collect and personalise limited-edition charms from each educational booth. They’ll also receive personalised skincare guidance and can purchase skincare products there as well.
Some highlighted products at the Hydration Lab include:
- Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner – a milky toner formulated to deliver lightweight hydration and support skin radiance.
- Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 – one of The Ordinary’s best-selling serums, designed to support smoother, hydrated skin.
- Rice Lipids + Ectoin Microemulsion – the brand’s newest lightweight moisturising innovation, developed to deliver lasting hydration in humid climates without heaviness.
Since azelaic acid is strictly regulated in Malaysia and it’s no longer sold by The Ordinary here, those looking for a serum with similar benefits can try the Aloe 2% + NAG 2% Solution. It works similarly to azelaic acid in soothing blemish-prone skin.
