A small kitten named Apong is fighting to keep the use of its legs after being struck by a car, and the rescue group caring for it is asking the public for help covering the cost of surgery.
The appeal was posted by Dunia Kucing Malaysia, a Malaysian cat rescue page on Facebook.
In the post, admin Rini said Apong is currently within what she described as a “golden window” — a critical period in which prompt treatment significantly improves the chances of a full recovery without lasting pain or disability.
The surgery is estimated to cost RM4,346.
We are in a very difficult situation, and are forced to make the choice to proceed with this surgery to save its leg, even though we are not financially able.
Rini added that those unable to donate financially could still help by sharing and commenting on the post.
Invoice Names The Kitten, Confirms The Cost
Donations are being accepted via Touch ‘n Go eWallet under the name Khairunnisa Binti Mohd Zulkhairi, account number 171248274321.
A photograph accompanying the post shows Apong lying on a sheet of newspaper, a visible wound running along its abdomen and leg.
The kitten is looking directly at the camera.
A video of the moment Apong was found after being hit is available in the comments section of the original post.
An itemised invoice from MHI Animal Medical Centre in Kelantan, dated 27 June, confirms the surgical costs and lists Apong by name as the patient.
The itemised list shows blood tests, X-rays, antibiotics, pain management, anaesthesia, wound cleaning, and the anchor item — Orthopaedic Surgery: Open Reduction and Internal Fixation with Bone Plate and Screw at RM3,000.
