The co-founder of a streetwear clothing brand was suspended by his own company following a road rage incident that occurred on Sunday night (11 January) in Subang Jaya.
Stoned & Co. posted a statement in its social media channels to inform the public it is aware of the viral video, and is taking the matter seriously.
“The Management of Stoned & Co. wishes to clearly state that the conduct shown i the video does not align with the values, culture or professional standards our company upholds as a brand.
“While the incident involves personal conduct, we recognize individuals in leadership positions carry responsibilities beyond themselves. We take this matter seriously,” the statement said.
Further in the statement, the clothing company said that it has suspended the individual involved from all duties effective immediately, pending the outcome of internal investigations and reviews.
Stoned & Co. founder Andrew Ngo also uploaded a video on Instagram to explain that moving forward, Tan Jia Hui, who was the company’s partner handling business development, is suspended from his duties and any future actions by Tan would have nothing to do with the brand.
The video first went viral on Rednote
Footage of the incident, captured from another vehicle’s dashcam, first went viral on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu (Rednote) on 8 January 2026.
Tan Jia Hui, the co-owner and business partner of Stoned & Co. was seen in a Ferrari pursuing another driver who had earlier honked at him for standing in the middle of the road in front of the outlet in SS15.
Upon catching up to the driver who honked at him, Tan stopped the luxury car in front of the other driver’s vehicle and stepped out. The driver who honked at him did not engage and simply drove away.
In an Instagram post, the driver who honked at Tan said he simply honked to alert the shop owner and remind him not to stand in the middle of the road.
“I only honked once to ask him to give way. Unexpectedly, he started up a Ferrari belonging to his friend and gave chase to me, as though he was seeking trouble.
“To be clear, I was not looking to cause trouble, provoke, or do anything inappropriate to him. I don’t understand why simply asking to give way could cause him to act in an aggressive and irrational manner,” he said in his Instagram post caption.
Separately, Tan also issued a public apology on social media. He expressed his regret and acknowledged that it was a moment of poor judgement on his part, after stating that his actions are completely unrelated to the brand.
“I take full responsibility for my actions and acknowledge I need to further reflect on how I conduct myself, regardless of my emotions and judgement,” he said.
