A man was waiting for a ride outside Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when he was approached by a smartly dressed woman with a luggage asking for money. She allegedly needed the money to get a taxi.

She claimed she was here with her business partners but they got separated and she didn’t have cash.

Believing she’s a scammer, he refused to give her money. However, he saw the woman go up to another person and decided to call her out.

He confronted and recorded her, telling her to speak clearly and repeat what she said about needing money.

The woman quickly turned away and ran across the road when he kept following her.

His videos went viral online with some commenters praising him for calling the alleged scammer out. One Facebook user claimed he was scammed by the same woman and has learned his lesson.

People also lamented at the increase of scammers roaming inside and outside the airport. They typically have a sob story before asking for help with money.

Some have said they would start confronting these scammers to discourage them from cheating others.

Meanwhile, another person joked that the woman should have sold her Louis Vuitton bag for money instead of harassing others.

Another user reminded everyone that China’s Alipay can be used here, likely implying that these alleged scammers should have no issues even if they don’t have cash in hand.

Malaysia Airports has responded

Malaysia Airports shared on Facebook that they have received reports of unauthorized individuals approaching passengers for money within the vicinity of the airport.

Malaysia Airports said this isn’t allowed and the Aviation Security (AVSEC) team is actively monitoring the situation.

The public is advised not to engage, respond, or give cash to scammers. They are advised to inform the nearest security officer or airport staff if approached.

Malaysia Airports reminded everyone to only seek help from personnel with official airport ID.
