Activist Firdaus Wong Wai Hung has filed a police report following death threats made against him by an individual identified as Ong Meng, in connection with his comments on the Sultan of Selangor’s directive regarding pig farming.

In a social media post, Wong, who is a Muslim convert, stated this was not the first time he had received threats of violence.

He said two individuals who made similar threats last year—one admitting to threatening to kill him and another threatening assault—have yet to be charged, despite police reports being filed.

Wong drew a comparison to the case of comedian Harith Iskander, in which a suspect was arrested, charged, and sentenced within a week.

“Why the difference in standard operating procedures?” he asked, calling for swift action by the authorities.

Screenshot Shows Murder Threat

In a screenshot Wong shared as evidence, a user identified as Ong Meng—the same name Wong cited in his police report—wrote: “If you appear in front of me, I’m willing to bear [the consequences of] Section 302 (murder)” (如果你真的出现在我面前,我宁愿身上负在302的).

Beyond this death threat, the screenshot also revealed other hostile comments directed at Wong.

One commenter, Kenny Zai, called him a “dog” and wrote in mixed Malay and Mandarin: “Anjing. Don’t understand why still keep a Chinese name” (死狗来的。为什么还要放华语名真不明白).

Another user, Joseph Wong, criticised him for using the surname Wong, writing: “Can you not use the surname Wong? You’re embarrassing the Wong family, walao! Change your name” (你可以不要姓黄吗?很丢黄氏的脸叻,walau! 改名啦).

Wong has built a social media following by producing content addressing Islamic issues and frequently commenting on matters related to Malaysia’s multi-ethnic, multi-religious society.

Earlier on, in response to public criticism of the Sultan’s pig farming directive, Wong lists what he implies are grievances from a particular community—”the most taxpaying,” “the most oppressed,” “the most harmonious,” “the most business-savvy,” “the most anti-corruption,” and “the most sensitive”—while sharing comments from users critical of the directive.

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor has ordered pig farms in Tanjong Sepat to gradually close and relocate to Bukit Tagar for environmental reasons, while banning the use of state funds for pig farming.
