Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has received a show-cause letter from PKR’s disciplinary committee, days after receiving a legal letter from Bestinet Sdn Bhd.

Lee said in a Facebook post that he remains committed to multiracial politics despite the two letters.

Lee said he previously received a legal letter about 10 years ago after opposing the privatisation of a migrant worker management system.

He said he did not expect to receive another legal letter this time — one approved by a government he trusts.

He said his parliamentary allocation was frozen on 26 May, but he only received the show-cause letter from the party’s disciplinary committee on 2 July.

His Response To The Show-Cause Letter

The letter accused Lee of failing to protect the party’s name and reputation. Lee disputed this, saying he was on a flight to Xi’an, China, for a technology collaboration event when former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli announced his resignation from the party post in May.

He said no one was aware Rafizi would announce his resignation before it happened.

Lee added that he had informed PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution that he could not attend the Pakatan Harapan (PH) convention in Johor Bahru, but had committed to attending a signing ceremony for companies joining the Petaling Jaya ASEAN Tech Innovation Centre (HATI).

Lee said he has responded to the show-cause letter and will leave the matter to the party to handle.

His Comments On Johor Polls

Lee’s parliamentary allocation has been frozen since 26 May, and he has separately received a show-cause letter from PKR’s disciplinary committee accusing him of failing to protect the party’s name and reputation.

Lee later resigned from the PKR Central Leadership Council on 12 June.

He cited dissatisfaction with the party leadership and its handling of issues concerning elected representatives, while stating that the party is “no longer what it was”

Separately, Lee said the public has moved on from recent political developments and is now focused on whether PH will reflect on its losses in the Johor state election.

He said some leaders have blamed voters for the results, while others have blamed Perikatan Nasional (PN) voters for supporting Barisan Nasional (BN).

Lee said if the country’s two main ethnic groups vote along racial lines, this could push Malaysia’s political climate back toward patterns seen in the 1970s, where fear, division and identity politics dominated.

He said multiracial politics remains difficult but should be maintained.
