This Cafe By The Sea In Kuantan Is So Dreamy, You Forget You’re Lucid

As far as vibe checks go for coffee spots in Kuantan, Lucid Coffee takes the cake if you’re looking for an afternoon caffeine dose with the sound of waves, a warm breeze, and a golden sunset.

If you’re there at the right time, specifically close to 7pm, you’ll be bathed in the warm glow of the “senja” sunlight while sipping on your drink.

Nestled on a corner lot in Kampung Cempaka, the cafe offers a pretty extensive menu of coffee, classic, milk-based, and mocktail drinks. If you’re hungry, they also serve great snacks including local favourites like keropok lekor, murtabak (with optional cheese add-on), and curry puffs.

We highly recommend the keropok lekor. Served hot, it is satisfyingly chewy and tasty!

Want something heavier? Order their selection of spaghetti dishes that come in Creamy Tom Yam, Creamy Carbonara or Spicy Bolognese. All the pasta dishes come with an optional Crispy Chicken Garlic Butter add-on if you’re really, really hungry. For something more local, try their Nasi Lemak Ayam Crispy or Nasi Lemak Tom Yam Chic.

Customers typically pour in around sunset, when it’s not too hot to hang out at Lucid Coffee (they only have outdoor seating, by the way).

As you tuck into your drinks and food, you’ll start to notice the kampung vibe set in — children playing around the houses nearby, families walking down to the beach just across the road, silhouettes of palm trees against the blue-orange sky, and roosters walking around you in a nonchalant manner.

Being KL-ites ourselves, we can’t help but fantasize about moving and living in Kuantan because of the (very) laid-back environment, nice people, good food, and coffee spots that make you feel like you’re the main character in a rose-tinted love story.
