A video showing a woman who has allegedly been living at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for a year has gone viral on social media, prompting calls for authorities to take action.

The footage, shared on social media, shows the individual shouting before being calmed down by several people at the airport.

According to the video, the woman has relied on the airport’s free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and water for the past year, prompting public questions about how she has obtained food and other necessities.

In another clip circulating online, the woman is seen occupying a row of seats in the terminal, with her belongings scattered on and around the chairs.

The person who posted the video claimed the woman berated her sibling for simply sitting near her makeshift living space.

In the video, the woman can be heard shouting “Shut up!” when confronted about sleeping on public seating.

One of Five Homeless Individuals Living at KLIA

In the latest development, authorities have since taken action on the case.

KLIA Deputy District Police Chief Superintendent Albany Hamzah confirmed the local woman possesses a mental health card and was handed over to Kajang Hospital following complaints about disturbances she caused.

Authorities revealed she is one of at least five homeless individuals who have been living at KLIA Terminal 1 for over a year.

They use departure hall seats as makeshift beds and fourth-floor restrooms for bathing.

To avoid detention, these individuals reportedly rotate between the airport and other locations around Kuala Lumpur.

The case raises questions about how these individuals managed to remain in the airport for so long despite regular security patrols.

The Malaysian Border Security Agency (AKPS) conducts regular checks at airport arrival and departure halls to identify and stop individuals attempting to enter or exit Malaysia with improper documentation or intentions.
