Malaysian Chinese Muslim preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung announced today (15 December) that he has won a defamation case against Atomy Malaysia, with the High Court ordering the company to pay him RM70,000 in legal costs.

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God). Allahuakbar (God is great). We won the defamation case against Atomy Malaysia!” Wong wrote on social media

According to Wong’s post, the court made two key rulings.

First, it determined that Atomy Co Ltd Korea was “indeed engaged in Christianization activities.”

Second, it lifted an injunction that had previously prevented Wong from speaking publicly about the company.

The injunction preventing me from talking about Atomy has been cancelled by the court, so I will reveal more about what happened in the proceedings.

Atomy vs Atome: Clearing Up the Confusion

Atomy is a well-known South Korean multi-level marketing (MLM) company that sells health, beauty, and household products – it operates in multiple countries including Malaysia.

The company should not be confused with Atome, a separate buy-now-pay-later payment service—a mix-up that appeared in several comments on Wong’s post.

The announcement drew many responses on social media, with some expressing relief and religious gratitude.

“This is very surprisingly shocking (cuz I bought one of their product before), but Alhamdulillah,” wrote one commenter who identified as a former Atomy customer, while others posted messages of support.

Wong indicated he would share more details about the case now that the court’s injunction has been lifted, but he has not yet provided further information on the specific allegations or the lawsuit timeline.

According to an Instagram post from May 2021, the legal dispute began after Wong sued an Atomy member for defamation, following which Atomy Malaysia filed a counter-suit against him alleging he had defamed the company.

Atomy Denies Christianization Finding, Plans Appeal

In response to the court decision, Atomy Malaysia issued an official statement denying that the High Court made any factual finding regarding Christianization activities.

The High Court DID NOT make any factual finding that Atomy Malaysia Sdn Bhd or Atomy Co Ltd Korea engages in Christianisation or any improper activities.

The company claimed that the allegation of Christianization was “FALSE” and that “the issue was never before the Court and the Court made no such finding.”

According to Atomy’s statement, the High Court’s decision was based solely on the application of specific legal defenses and “does not amount to a judicial determination that the allegations of Christianisation or wrongdoing are true.”

The company will appeal the decision, noting that “the appeal process means that the matter remains before the courts and is not final.”

Atomy Malaysia also stated that the Court found certain online statements were defamatory in nature and urged the public to “rely only on accurate information released through official Atomy Malaysia channels.”

Atomy Malaysia remains firmly committed to lawful, ethical, and transparent business practices.
